Romans 14:13-16

¹³Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another. ¹⁴I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. ¹⁵If your brother or sister is being injured by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. Do not let what you eat cause the ruin of one for whom Christ died. ¹⁶So do not let your good be spoken of as evil.

Heather says:

There is a book in the library with the title, “I’m fine with God… It’s Christians I can’t stand”. We wonder why those seekers have, over the course of centuries… stopped seeking Christian believers. Most times… we don’t act like believers. Being a Christian is like being in a zoo or a circus… someone is always watching… staring… contemplating… waiting to see what we do. And whether or not they come to Christ just may depend on the pretty peacock feathers or circus trick (stumbling blocks) we show them.

Heather says:

Jesus wept. He didn’t sniff… get a tightness in the back of his throat… feel bad… give a platitude… pat the back of someone’s hand… tell everyone around him, including himself, that everything would be alright. He WEPT. The words aren’t so specific that I’m qualified to know exactly what was disturbing him so much that he was weeping…there is inference… But whatever it was… if I ever had any doubt that Jesus was just as much a human as I am… I doubt no more.

Heather says:

In a day where we feel “that can’t be all there is to the story”, or, “there has to be more”, or “I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop”… can it really be this simple? Yet, it is. If we come, we will never hunger, thirst, be driven away and on the last day will rise again. If only everything else in life could be this simple.

Heather says:

When I was younger, I could give the silent treatment like a pro. Now that I’m older I keep trying to realize that the silent treatment and angry stretches of time only translate into lost time that is too precious to spend being mad at things that most likely won’t matter in the end. It doesn’t always work for me but this verse at least serves as a jab in my side to snap out of it.

If I had a dime for each minute I spend either trying to get life to go MY way, or thinking it SHOULD go my way… well… I’d have considerably more coinage than a wishing well. Perhaps one day I’ll finally understand that my ways don’t, nor do they need to, matter. THE way… HIS way… is all there ever need be.
